Gdy wykonawca jest bliżej nieokreślony, lub nie znamy wykonawcy:

Gdy chcemy bardziej zwrócić uwagę na przedmiot czynności niż na jej wykonawcę:

Another strike at the factory is being planned for November.
A new conference centre will be built in Warsaw.
The meals are cooked in a great hurry.

Pomijamy wykonawcę czynności ponieważ jest oczywisty:

In the hurricane many fields were flooded and many trees were broken.
The street is swept every day.
Your wound will be cleaned and bandaged.
